The President of the Association of African Private Universities (AAPU), Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo, on Thursday, visited Baba-Ahmed University, Kano, to discuss the advancement of private universities in Africa and promote academic collaboration.

Prof. Gwarzo, who is also the founder of Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN), led a high-profile delegation that included the President of MAAUN, Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Israr, along with senior university officials.

Upon arrival, the delegation was warmly received at the university’s open theatre by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Adamu Tanko Idris, alongside faculty members, staff, and students.

In his address, Prof. Idris expressed deep appreciation for Prof. Gwarzo’s outstanding contributions to education and humanity, not only in Nigeria but across the African continent.

He described the visit as a significant occasion, stressing Prof. Gwarzo’s unwavering commitment to fostering academic excellence and institutional partnerships. The Vice-Chancellor also prayed for Prof. Gwarzo’s continued success, wishing him a long life in good health to sustain his efforts in advancing education.

In response, Prof. Gwarzo commended the university’s leadership for its dedication to academic excellence and institutional development.

He stressed the need for stronger collaboration among universities to enhance research, innovation, and knowledge exchange. He also praised the university’s Founder, Datti Baba-Ahmed, and the management team for their contributions to promoting quality education.

Prof. Gwarzo encouraged faculty and staff to continue supporting the Vice-Chancellor in his vision to elevate the university to greater heights. He reaffirmed his belief in the power of partnerships to strengthen the education sector across Africa.

As part of the visit, two students of Baba-Ahmed University presented an award of excellence to Prof. Gwarzo in recognition of his significant contributions to education.

Among the dignitaries in Prof. Gwarzo’s delegation were the President of MAAUN Kano, Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Israr, Dr Abba Jidda, and Dr Musa Lawal Jibia, among others.
