Bago appoints new GM for Niger Radio — News — The Guardian Nigeria News – Nigeria and World News

Date:

The new General Manager of the Broadcasting Corporation of Niger State, Mohammed Kolo, has urged the management and staff to put in their best to ensure that the radio station is recognised across the country and beyond.

Kolo made the appeal while taking over the affairs of the station from the Acting General Manager, Danjuma Kwatu Paiko, on Monday, March 17, 2025, at the Radio Niger complex, Shiroro Road, Minna.

Mohammed stressed the need for staff to evolve new ways of doing things, saying that the station has been challenged by the government to improve on its services. Hence, all hands must be on deck to bring in innovations that would enable the station to compete favorably.

According to him, in every media organisation, the news department is the image maker of the media; therefore, a lot is expected from the department to make it viable.

He also challenged the programme department to utilise the airtime and ensure that people listen to the station constantly.

“When we are on air constantly, we can have confidence to approach any newsmaker for an interview, and he or she will oblige. But if you don’t transmit regularly, the station will be left behind,” he said.

“While you work, we will query—all in the name of delivering. Perhaps what I want is results, development, promotion, and above all, growth so that the station will be recognised again.”

He further sought the support and cooperation of all staff.

Earlier, the Acting General Manager, Danjuma Kwatu Paiko, while congratulating the newly appointed G.M., also appreciated all the staff of the corporation for the support given to him and urged them to extend the same gesture to the new G.M.
