Happy … if nippy … Monday!
And a hearty welcome to those coming to D.C. for this week’s March for Life events.
Here’s hoping today’s Brew keeps your hands warm.
Iowa Caucus Tonight
Today, actual real live voters get to start weighing in on the 2024 race, with tonight’s Iowa caucus. Tonight, braving bitter sub-zero cold, Iowans will gather in the communities to ask, “Who do we want as the GOP nominee? Can anyone feel their toes? Why haven’t we moved to Florida?”
We’re talking wind chills tonight between -35 and -45. Stay safe out there, people.
So how’s it looking for the candidates? The final Des Moines Register/NBC News poll indicates Donald Trump with 48% support, Nikki Haley with 20% and Ron DeSantis at 16%. Vivek Ramaswamy is at about 8%.
We get more into the numbers and the latest caucus news with a special “Iowa Caucus” Resolute, “Get Set For the Thrills in the Chills,” which just posted.
Did You Know There Was a Violent Riot at the White House Saturday Night?
Non-essential White House staffers and journalists had to be evacuated from the White House Saturday night after a mob of “Pro-Palestinian” pro-Hamas, pro-Houthi terrorists protesters stormed and sought to bring down the security gates. The gates were damaged and were perilously close to being breached. Several D.C. Metropolitan police were injured from objects being thrown at them during the assault.
And the Secret Service made no arrests.
In fact the White House was being so deferential to the mob, the Secret Service used the term “relocated” rather than “evacuated” to describe the movement of personnel to safety in the face of the threat. I guess you can’t expect them to find the right words when they can’t even find who planted cocaine near the Oval Office.
Where was Joe Biden? He was kicking back at Camp David this weekend.
The Metropolitan police were quick to point out that most of the protesters were “peaceful.” Then you see this:
A DC cop working the protests outside the Whitehouse sent me this picture. This patch is Al Qassim Brigades, a Hamas terror group. He said the guys dressed like this were spotting and assessing (which is done to collect intel). pic.twitter.com/9ppfNs3Mrg

Which gets to this …
100 Days … 6 Americans Still Being Held Hostage … and Fed Workers Plan Walkout in Support of Those Who Did the Killing and Kidnapping
Yesterday, incidentally, marked 100 days since the Hamas massacre of hundreds of innocent Israelis. An estimated 132 hostages, including as many as six Americans, remain in captivity.
Joe Biden released a statement declaring, “On this terrible day, I again reaffirm my pledge to all the hostages and their families — we are with you. We will never stop working to bring Americans home.”
Well, not everybody in his administration. On Tuesday, hundreds of White House employees and workers at more than two dozen federal agencies will reportedly stage a walk-out to protest Biden’s support for Israel in its war to eradicate the Hamas terrorists. Organizers, who wish to remain anonymous, claim “Feds United for Peace” has commitments from not only the Executive Office of the President, but the National Security Agency, Homeland Security and DoD.
Speaker Mike Johnson is calling on federal workers who participate in the pro-Palestinian walk-out to be fired.
Dominic Pino at National Review reminds us it’s a felony for a federal worker to strike against the government.
5 U.S.C. § 7311 makes it illegal for federal workers to go on strike: “An individual may not accept or hold a position in the Government of the United States . . . if he . . . participates in a strike, or asserts the right to strike, against the Government of the United States.”
18 U.S.C. § 1918 proscribes the penalty: “Whoever violates the provision of section 7311 . . . shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year and a day, or both.”
Will anyone get fired? Only if they bite Secret Service members … AND have four legs.
Something in the Air
Once again, yesterday’s Babylon Bee punch line becomes today’ news headline.

So what’s up with airlines and the FAA? Shouldn’t the only thing that matters be keeping the skies safe and finding the best, sharpest and most stable people to do it? Fox News had the story Sunday of how the FAA is actively recruiting workers who suffer “severe intellectual” disabilities, psychiatric problems and other mental conditions as part of its “Diversity and Inclusion” hiring plan.
The FAA insists the candidates are properly vetted, telling Fox News Digital, “Like many large employers, the agency proactively seeks qualified candidates from as many sources as possible, all of whom must meet rigorous qualifications that of course will vary by position.”
But the most qualified? And what does “rigorous qualification” even mean? Look at Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg.
Meanwhile, over at Delta, Robby Starbucks got hold of a Delta communique instructing workers to capitalize Black and Brown, but not white.
From a source at Delta Airlines. Delta is asking employees to capitalize Black & Brown but write White in lowercase. @Delta must stop this blatant racism. pic.twitter.com/1Ob0N5dYMq
