The newly elected president of the associations of the United States Government Exchange Alumni Association, Lagos Branch, Akeem Aponmade has solicited continued members’ support and commitment.

He promised that the new leadership would undertake projects that would enhance the association’s profile and ensure members’ satisfaction.

Aponmade disclosed this in his speech after he was declared winner of the 2024 election participated by 29 delegates and member associations to elect new leaders for a two-year term.

The election which was overseen by a three-man electoral committee, led by Barrister Lambert Nor, the election was held at the American Corner in Ikeja, Lagos, with representatives from the US Consulate General in attendance as witnesses. The process unfolded peacefully and without any discord.

Speaking on behalf of the newly elected officers, Aponmade expressed gratitude to the electoral committee for ensuring a peaceful election.

He also thanked the United States Mission in Nigeria for providing opportunities through exchange programmes even as he acknowledged the efforts of past leaders in laying a strong foundation for the association and pledged to build on it.
