Nigerian music star Davido has once again missed out on a Grammy win, extending his streak to four nominations without a victory.

The 67th Grammy Awards, held on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, saw him lose in the Best African Music Performance category. His song “Sensational,” a collaboration with Chris Brown and Lojay, was nominated in the category but lost to Tems’ “Love Me JeJe.”

Other nominees included Burna Boy’s “Higher,” Asake & Wizkid’s “MMS,” and Yemi Alade’s “Tomorrow.”

Four Nominations, No Grammy Yet

Davido, born David Adedeji Adeleke, has now been nominated at the Grammys four times but is yet to claim an award. His first three nominations came at the 66th Grammy Awards in 2024, where he was in the race for Best Global Music Album for Timeless; Best African Music Performance for “Unavailable” featuring Musa Keys; Best Global Music Performance for “Feel”.

Despite high expectations, he lost in all categories. His fourth nomination in 2025, for “Sensational,” ended the same way, leaving him without a Grammy win.

Davido Reacts to Grammy Loss

Despite the setback, Davido took to X (formerly Twitter) on Monday morning to congratulate his fellow nominees, particularly Chris Brown and Tems, for their Grammy victories. He wrote, “Congratulations to my one and only :goat:! @chrisbrown! And to the Queen @temsbaby, we are proud of you! :muscle::skin-tone-5::earth_americas::star:️”

Nigeria at the Grammys

Although Nigerian artistes have been receiving more Grammy nominations in recent years, wins remain rare. In the Best Global Music Album category alone, Nigerian artistes have managed just one win from 16 nominations, with Burna Boy’s Twice As Tall (2021) being the only success so far.
