As Muslims across Nigeria celebrate Eid-el-Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan, prominent leaders, including Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Inspector-General of Police Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo, and NAHCON Chairman Prof. Abdullahi Saleh Usman have extended greetings and highlighted the importance of peace, unity, and cooperation during the festive period.
Fintiri Calls for Love and Sacrifice
In Yola, Governor Fintiri, in a goodwill message released by his Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, congratulated the Muslim community on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast, describing the period as a time of devotion and self-discipline.
“Ramadan encapsulates Almighty Allah’s commandment to get closer to Him and live in self-denial and moderation,” Fintiri stated.
He urged Muslims to continue the virtues of love, sacrifice, and charity beyond Ramadan to foster a peaceful Adamawa State.
“Our government is committed to promoting peaceful coexistence. I urge Muslims to sustain these values after Ramadan to build a prosperous and peaceful Adamawa State,” he said.
IGP Egbetokun Assures Heightened Security
From Abuja, IGP Egbetokun also extended his felicitations while assuring Nigerians of water-tight security for a peaceful celebration.
“In a bid to ensure a safe celebration, Commissioners of Police (CPs), Tactical Commanders, and their supervisory Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) have been instructed to strengthen security at Eid prayer grounds, recreational centers, and other public spaces,” said Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi.
Egbetokun encouraged Nigerians to remain law-abiding, celebrate peacefully, and report any suspicious activities to security agencies.
“The IGP wishes all Muslim faithful a joyous and peaceful Eid-El-Fitr celebration, encouraging them to use this period to reflect on the values of patience, kindness, and national cohesion,” he added.
Okpebholo Preaches Unity and Tolerance
In Benin City, Governor Okpebholo commended the Muslim community for their steadfastness, piety, and sacrifice during Ramadan. He urged them to uphold virtues of tolerance and unity.
“On behalf of the Government and the good people of Edo State, I heartily congratulate our Muslim brothers and sisters on the joyous occasion of Eid-El-Fitr,” he said.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to fostering an inclusive Edo State where religious tolerance and mutual respect thrive.
“Your dedication and devotion during Ramadan have been truly inspiring. As you celebrate this significant festival, may the spirit of peace, unity, and love continue to guide our State and nation,” Okpebholo added.
NAHCON Chairman Seeks Support for 2025 Hajj
The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the NAHCON, Prof Usman, extended warm greetings to the Muslim Ummah and sought support for a successful 2025 Hajj pilgrimage.
“This Eid comes at a critical time to us in NAHCON, a time when we intensify preparations for the 2025 Hajj. In light of this and the positive aura of Ramadan, I humbly appeal for the continued prayers and support of all stakeholders,” Usman stated.
He assured that NAHCON has put in place adequate measures for a smooth pilgrimage, calling for cooperation from all quarters.
“NAHCON has made adequate arrangements; our prayer and appeal is for cooperation in any small or big way possible. May Allah accept our fasts, prayers, and good deeds in exchange for Jannatul Firdaus and grant us a successful Hajj season,” he concluded.
