Swedish skip Niklas Edin drew to the four-foot ring in the 10th and final end to beat Canadian counterpart Brad Gushue 6-5 in the gold-medal game Sunday at the world men’s curling championship in Schaffhausen, Switzerland.
It’s the seventh world title for Edin, who has downed Gushue in each of their past three meetings in the championship match. Edin also prevailed 6-5 against the Canadians on Thursday.
Gushue won his first and only world gold in 2017, defeating Edin in Edmonton.
The teams entered the last end tied 5-5, with Edin having the last shot.
Sweden got out to an early lead with two points in the second end and a steal of one in the third.
Gushue’s rink from St. John’s fought back, and its two-point ninth end set the stage for the dramatic 10th.
Earlier Sunday, Italy edged Scotland 7-6 for the bronze medal.
