Senate President Godswill Akpabio has declared that Nigeria is in “safe hands” under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu, praising his commitment to democratic values and economic reforms.
In a congratulatory message on Friday to mark Tinubu’s 73rd birthday, Akpabio highlighted Tinubu’s pivotal role in the formation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its subsequent victories in the 2015 and 2019 presidential elections.
“Sir, I acknowledge your indelible role in the formation of the APC in 2013, which successfully challenged the dominance of the PDP in 2015,” Akpabio said.
He credited Tinubu’s support as instrumental to Muhammadu Buhari’s historic victory in 2015, marking the first time an incumbent president lost re-election in Nigeria.
Akpabio further commended Tinubu’s leadership since assuming office in 2023, describing him as “one of the greatest and audacious leaders Nigeria has produced.”
“As the President in the last two years, you have demonstrated astute leadership, advocating for democratic values and bold economic reforms that have started to yield dividends,” he stated.
“With you in the driving seat, Nigeria is in safe hands, and Nigerians could not have made a better choice in 2023. Your leadership, vision, and dedication to our great nation are truly inspiring,” Akpabio added.
The former Akwa Ibom governor also acknowledged the collaborative relationship between the executive and legislative arms of government under Tinubu’s administration.
“As Senate President, I have had the privilege of working closely with you, and I must say that your passion for Nigeria’s progress is contagious. Today marks a significant milestone in your life, and I am honored to celebrate with you,” he said.
Akpabio also praised Tinubu’s political career, emphasizing his commitment to democratic principles and courage in challenging authoritarian regimes.
“In your 73 years on earth, you have pursued a political career marked by a strong commitment to progressive democratic principles and the uncanny courage in tackling authoritarian regimes,” he remarked.
On behalf of his family, constituents, the Senate, and the National Assembly, Akpabio wished Tinubu a happy birthday.
“As you mark this special day in this period of Ramadan, I pray the Almighty Allah grants you continued wisdom, strength, and good health to steer our nation towards greater heights,” he added.
