The Nasarawa State Police Command said it has arrested a gang of kidnappers and has rescued the victim.
The police said it also found correctional service and Nigerian Immigration Service uniforms in their custody.
The Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Nansel Ranham, made this known in a press statement made available to newsmen on Thursday in Lafia.
The police said that following a complaint lodged at Mararaba A Division, Karu LGA, about his eight-year-old son, Abdulrahman Sani, who was abducted by unknown individuals in the Tudun Wada area of Mararaba, the abductors later contacted the father via phone, demanding a ransom of ₦700,000 for his son’s release.
He said, “Acting on credible intelligence, officers trailed the suspects and arrested them in Keffi. The suspects, according to the police, are Surajo Yusuf, 22 years old, a native of Katsina State and resident of Angwan Tanko, Keffi, and Peter Samuel, 23 years old, from Nasarawa town.
“During interrogation, Surajo Yusuf confessed to carrying out the abduction alone and later enlisting the assistance of his accomplice (Peter Samuel) to keep the child under the false pretense that the boy was his nephew.
“The victim was rescued unharmed along Nasarawa Road, Keffi, Nasarawa State, and has since been reunited with his family.
“A search of the suspects’ residence led to the recovery of various incriminating items, including: Nigeria Correctional Service and Nigeria Immigration Service uniforms and accoutrements, a knife, a Nigeria Correctional Service identification card, a National Identity card, and three ATM cards bearing different names.”
The police said that the suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation
