Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command arrested a group of armed robbers and recovered firearms, stolen items, ammunition and machetes.

The police spokesperson for the state, Daniel Ndukwe, disclosed that police operatives attached to the Unity Police Division acted on credible intelligence from sources.

Sources informed the police that some residents of the Ibagwa-Nike region of the state were attacked by armed robbers who carted away with their valuables on the 3rd and 6th of February 2025.

Following this, police detectives swung into action and launched an investigation into the robbery case.

This investigation led to the successful arrest of the group of armed robbers, which consisted of seven men.

Ndukwe identified the armed robbers as “Chetachukwu Okolo (aged 32), Ogwuche Chukwuemeka alias “Shenkes” (aged 22), Ifeanyi Okoye (aged 29), Sopuruchukwu Odenigbo alias “Jadon” (aged 28), Onyebuchi Ukwu (aged 20), Chukwuebuka Chukwu alias “Kobo” (aged 25), and Mmaduabuchi Ukeh (aged 25)”.

Some of the items recovered from the armed robbers include SIM cards, supplement drugs, identity cards, clothes and some other stolen items.

“Also recovered are one pump-action gun, two locally made pistols, two live cartridges, and two machetes. The suspects confessed to the crime and will be arraigned in court once investigations are concluded,” Ndukwe added.
