Shehu Sani faults Tinubu’s critics on appointments — Politics — The Guardian Nigeria News – Nigeria and World News

Date:

Social activist and former federal lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani, has faulted those accusing President Bola Tinubu of appointing mainly Nigerians of the Yoruba extraction into key positions, saying they were quiet when nepotism was rife during the Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.

Sani, who represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District in the 8th National Assembly, also said that Kaduna South was marginalised for the eight years of the past administration in Kaduna State but noone spoke out.

The former lawmaker said this, while reacting to the accusations by several northern groups that Tinubu was appointing only people from his own Yoruba ethnic group into office. He accused such groups of being silent while Buhari appointed people of northern origin into key sectors during his eight years in office.

Ibrahim Dandakata, the chairman of Arewa Economic Forum (AEF), recently, in a statement, accused Tinubu of intentionally limiting his appointments to only Yoruba people, especially those of Lagos State origin.

Taking to X, Sani wrote, “There were people who were silent when Buhari was fielding political offices with his kinsmen and have now found their voice to speak out when the equation doesn’t favor them.

“Let’s not make reference to the nepotism that marginalized Southern Kaduna for eight years.
“Kaduna was an apartheid state for eight years.”
