Happy Tuesday!
It’s a nice day to curl up with a Brew and a great book.
How about Fight the Good Fight: How the Alliance of Faith and Reason Can Win the Culture War? The new book from Stream co-founders James Robison and Jay Richards gets released today!
More on that in a bit.
So … Was the Lakewood Church Shooter a Hamas-Supporting Transgender?
Looks like we have another mass shooting transgender on our hands. And a story that will disappear faster than chips at a Super Bowl party. Turns out the person who opened fire in Joel Osteen’s Lakewood church Sunday identified as transgender. Or at the very least someone who went around using both male and female identities.
The 36-year-old suspect is an immigrant from El Salvador who went by the name Genesse Morano but was also known as “Jeffrey Escalante”. Morano/Escalante has a rap sheet going back to 2005.
Also guaranteed to have this attempted mass shooting already buried and forgotten by the media, Morano’s AR-15 contained the phrase “Free Palestine” and his social media was crammed with BLM, Leftist and anti-Semitic postings.
Thankfully, two off-duty cops shot and killed Morano before too many people could be hurt. Two were injured, including one five-year-old boy critically wounded.
We join those praying for the recovery of this child, who authorities say is the son of the suspect.
A Story in Two Tweets
Q: “86% of Americans think Biden is too old to serve another term. What is the White House strategy to try and change that perception?”

So Biden’s ability to do nothing for 72 hours is equivalent to you and me doing nothing for 72 days!
White House: Biden Won’t Take a Cognitive Test During Next Physical
Meanwhile, despite Special Counsel Robert Hur citing Biden’s “poor memory” and mental decline as a reason not to charge him — and 86% of Americans believing Biden is “too old” to serve another term — the White House announced Biden’s upcoming physical will not include a cognitive test.
Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre again defended the president’s mental fitness. “When we have meetings with him and his staff he is constantly pushing us, trying to get more information, and so that has been my experience with this president.”
Then show us. Is it information he already asked for? Information he should already know? Like, that Mexico and Egypt are different places? That there won’t be a state dinner for Charles DeGaulle?
Again, this isn’t rocket science: If Robert Hur’s assessment after his five-hours with Biden is wrong, release the five-hour audio tape.
Fani Willis Will Have to Face Hearing Thursday on Possible Disqualification from Trump Case
We hope Fulton County D.A. Fani Willis and her special prosecutor fella Nathan Wade have a nice Valentine’s Day Wednesday, because Thursday won’t be roses and chocolates.
The judge in Willis’ RICO case against Donald Trump ruled Monday that Willis will have to face an evidentiary hearing Thursday that could result in her disqualification. Willis tried arguing that her illicit relationship with the guy she’s been paying hundreds of thousands to hunt Trump isn’t a problem.
Nay-nay, says Judge Scott McAffe:
I think it’s clear that disqualification can occur if evidence is produced demonstrating an actual conflict or the appearance of one. The state has admitted a relationship existed. And so what remains to be proven is the existence and extent of any financial benefit, again if there even was one. And so because I think its possible that the facts alleged by the defendant could result in disqualification, I think an evidentiary hearing must occur to establish the record on those core allegations.
Fight the Good Fight
Congratulations to Stream founders Jay Richards and James Robison on their new book out today, Fight the Good Fight. Let them describe it in their own words:
Our rulers have kicked aside our Constitution and common sense. They have demonized our heroes. Now they’re trying to erase the difference between male and female. All while running up unimaginable and catastrophic debt.
What’s left for Christians in such a society, where dissent invites ruinous retribution? Should they retreat? Fight back? Something else?
God is not finished with us as a nation, but if we’re going to get off the road to ruin, we must do more than slow down and conserve whatever good remains: We must repent. That means a hard, 180-degree turn — and fast.
If we’ll pray, think straight, persuade other lovers of truth to join us, and fight together — wise as serpents and innocent as doves — then there’s still hope.
Let me give you a bit of inside scoop. In 2012, James and Jay wrote the powerful best-seller Indivisible. (In fact, that book and meeting them at an event is what put these two on my radar … and on my path to you.) A couple years back, James and Jay set out to do a new, updated edition of Indivisible, with the goal of making it shorter and easier to read. But they ran into a huge problem: The world is a much different world than it was in 2012. The same principles apply but the battle fronts have shifted dramatically. For example, could you imagine in 2012 we’d be having to say chopping off the body parts of healthy children is a bad idea? With Supreme Court justices who can’t define “woman”? Or we’d be in a Post-Roe world? So James and Jay decided to start fresh. The end result is a great read, a critical resource this election year and a source of unbridled hope.
We’ll have excerpts … but why wait? Order Fight the Good Fight: How the Alliance of Faith and Reason Can Win the Culture War today!
Along The Stream
Did you know Charles Darwin started a sequel to Origin of Species to better make his case? Except he never completed the manuscript. Why? A new book called Darwin’s Bluff: The Book Darwin Never Finished unravels the mystery. Former Stream Managing Editor Jonathan Witt tells us all about it.
If you missed it, we did an extra “Overtime Brew” yesterday called “Headdresses, Headscratchers and Hostage Hallalujahs.”
Al Perrotta is the Managing Editor of The Stream, co-author, with John Zmirak, of The Politically Incorrect Guide to Immigration and co-author of the counter-terrorism memoir Hostile Intent: Protecting Yourself Against Terrorism.
