President Trump told attendees at the March for Life Friday he will “stand proudly” with the pro-life community during his second term, protecting the “historic gains” from his first term by ensuring that a federal right to abortion never becomes law. Speaking virtually to attendees in a video message from the Oval Office, Trump pledged to support adoption and foster care, stop the “weaponization” of the Justice Department, and investigate attacks on churches and pregnancy help centers.
“Each year, Americans of every age, color, and background travel to our nation’s capital by the tens of thousands to stand up for precious little babies who cannot stand up for themselves,” Trump said.
Vice President J.D. Vance addressed the crowd in person.
“I want to be clear that this administration stands by you,” Vance said. “We stand with you, and most importantly, we stand with the most vulnerable.”
Trump spent much of the day Friday touring the states of North Carolina and California, each of which has been devastated in recent months by natural disasters.
Trump, though, made clear in his virtual address he still embraces the pro-life cause. He began his address by thanking attendees for the “extraordinary love and compassion” they display “for the unborn each year.”
“This annual march started 52 years ago on the first anniversary of the disastrous ruling known as Roe v Wade. That unconstitutional decision took power away from the states and the voters, kicking off 50 years of division and anger,“ Trump said. “But thanks to your tireless work and devotion across five decades, that historic wrong was set right three years ago. I was so proud to be a participant. Six courageous justices of the Supreme Court of the United States returned the issue to the state legislatures and to the people where it belongs.“
Abortion is now, he said, a “vote of the people.“
“In my second term, we will again stand proudly for families and for life,“ Trump said. “We will protect the historic gains we have made and stop the radical Democrat push for a federal right of unlimited abortion on demand up to the moment of birth and even after birth. We will work to offer a loving hand to new mothers and young families, and we will support adoption and foster care. We will protect women and vulnerable children. Under my leadership, a reformed Department of Justice will finally investigate the radical left attacks on churches and crisis pregnancy centers, and we will bring perpetrators to justice.”
A second Trump term also will “end the weaponization of law enforcement against Americans of faith,“ he said. The previous day, Trump pardoned 23 pro-life activists who had been prosecuted by the Biden administration.
“I know your hearts are warm and your spirits are strong because your mission is just,“ Trump said.

Vance labeled the March for Life the “single largest gathering in the world to celebrate our movement.”
“We march to protect the unborn,“ he said. “We march to proclaim and live out the sacred truth that every single child is a miracle and a gift from God.”
A federal government with pro-life values, Vance said, must work to assist moms.
“We failed a generation, not only by permitting a culture of abortion on demand but also by neglecting to help young parents achieve the ingredients they need to live a happy and meaningful life,“ Vance said. “A culture of radical individualism took root, one where the responsibilities and joys of family life were seen as obstacles to overcome, not as personal fulfillment or personal blessings.
“Our society has failed to recognize the obligation that one generation has to another is a core part of living in a society to begin with,“ Vance added. “So let me say very simply, I want more babies in the United States of America. I want more happy children in our country. And I want beautiful young men and women who are eager to welcome them into the world and eager to raise them.
“And it is the task of our government,“ Vance said, “to make it easier for young moms and dads to afford to have kids, to bring them into the world, and to welcome them as the blessings that we know they are here at the March for Life.
